<image:title>About - It all began with an idea.</image:title>
<image:caption>Bacchant Wine Merchants was established in 1999 by Jonathan Sayers with the aim of creating a company that represents high quality family wineries with passion, flair and dynamism in all sectors of the wine market. Over the years the company has grown and flourished and developed an excellent sales team, complemented by our very efficient office staff. In 2022 Matthew Harrowsmith joined Bacchant Wine Merchants as a director. Our aim at Bacchant is to develop intimate knowledge of the wines, techniques and philosophies of our winemakers and deliver them to the marketplace in a way that meets the needs and desires of the wine buyer. Over the 27 years of its trading life Bacchant Wines has developed an enviable track record of increasing the sales and profile of its wineries, always striving for sustainable long term growth and lifting the brand's core value. For Bacchant, the relationship with our wineries and our customers is at the heart of everything we do. It is our goal to provide all the services available from larger wine wholesalers (design and print services, labelled house wines, and excellent pricing) with the flexibility, knowledge and passion of a small specialist wine merchant. Everyone at Bacchant is very proud of the wineries we represent and is committed to providing their customers with excellent, competitively priced wines and knowledgeable and attentive service. We look forward to working with you.</image:caption>

<image:title>Wineries_Link - Nocton - Nocton Vineyard Coal River, TAS</image:title>
<image:caption>To have a producer from the Coal River Valley in Tasmania’s south join the portfolio was a joyous day for all of us at Bacchant. Nocton is situated in some of Tasmania’s most prestigious cool climate wine regions producing quality wines from quality air and quality water. The first vines were planted in 1999 on 34 hectares of pristine land in the heart of the Coal Valley. Wang Shan and her family saw the potential to turn this quality into something that would truly connect Tasmania with their home of Tianjin in northern China… a way of bringing the best of Tasmania to China and, in return, bringing some of the magic and excitement of China back here. All of the wines today are produced exclusively from fruit grown on these vineyards. The Estate range is designed to be more approachable, and fruit driven in style with little or no oak, whereas the Reserve wines, Willow Series, are more complex. In addition to careful bunch selection, they lay to rest in quality French oak barrels and are designed for long term cellaring. But what truly separates Nocton wines from others is the passion, determination and expertise of the winemaking team. They work tirelessly to create wines that reflect the region, even hand-pruning every single vine, ensuring that yields are the right size and that only the best fruit is selected. The Follett family have been grape growers in Langhorne Creek for over 120 years and winemakers for 30 years and have rapidly built an enviable reputation for consistently producing outstanding wines. The Follett family vineyard was established in the 1880s by Arthur John Follett, the great grandfather of Greg Follett, the winemaker. The varieties grown on the vineyard include Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Chardonnay, with small blocks of Grenache, Merlot, Petit Verdot and White Frontignac. <image:caption>The Logan Family love their wine. Red or white, fizzy or sticky, crisp or fruity and we love selling it for them. Our relationship with the Logan family goes way beyond selling their wine. Over the last twenty years we have grown together and created a brand that is innovative and contemporary. Over the years Logan have made interesting and contemporary wines sourced from the central west regions of New South Wales, incorporating Mt Canobolas in Orange down to the hills of Mudgee, where the terroir of the region gives the wines their distinct personalities. The Weemala range has an emphasis on European style with an artisanal touch. Our Clementine’s, named after winemaker Peter Logan’s daughter, that bring fresh textural styles with crunch and sass. Made by fermenting whites on skins and reds in whole bunches. There is also their award-winning embroidery label. These wines are from the impressive Orange vineyards, which are some of the highest vines in the country. The deep rich volcanic soils produce fruit with very high flavour concentration, acid balance and colour. Perched above the Apple Tree Flat vineyard sits the all glass award-winning Cellar Door. A stunning place to spend an afternoon tasting all of the Logan wines including the Apple Tree Flat’s. Quality wines made with a budget in mind. Logan have also developed an On Premise only label, Love and Valour, it’s enough to make any winelist look courageous. And lastly but not least. Logan is very aware of the need to protect the land which is why all of their vineyards are farmed sustainably with some in conversion. The health of the planet is also very important to us here at Bacchant, so we have together developed a range of wines in kegs to try and reduce waste that comes from packaging, and fossil fuels associated with shipping, to reduce our carbon footprint and yours. <image:caption>Another love child of Giles Cooke MW and Fergal Tynan MW, their unbridled passion and enthusiasm for these alternative Italian grape varieties has been translated into a duo of great wines. Cloud Cuckoo Land is a classic 'Australianism' describing an imaginary state of absurd over-optimism. This name resonated with the winemaking team at Wild & Wilder, as they felt this was something they'd long been accused of! A classic example is their desire to make high-quality, low intervention wines made from Mediterranean varieties in the Riverland. A decade ago this would've been nigh on impossible, but these days viticulture and climate have combined to make this almost the norm in fine wine circles. Hand-picked before gently de-stemming and crushing, Greco & Zibibbo were held on skins for 24 hours. Cool fermented separately followed by maturation on lees. It has a vibrant, texture with hints of almond blossom, quince and ripe pear. Tangy, almost exotic but pithy and delicious. The Nero D’Avola was also hand-picked and Monte was machine harvested, both were wild fermented with gentle plunge downs twice daily. Gently pressed and matured in older oak for 5 months. Vegan, sustainably made and of course packed with flavour. Great to see more vibrant expressions of Riverland fruit becoming top class wines! Winemaker: Giles Cooke</image:caption>

<image:caption>In 2021 we welcomed the exciting addition of Misty Cove into the Bacchant family, Marlborough wines that made us look at this region with a new enthusiasm. Misty Cove was founded by Andrew Bailey, an ex cricketer turned “gumboot Winemaker” back in 2008 during the GFC. Misty Cove, named after the misty coves of the Marlborough Sounds is a Winery with a difference. Some could say reverse engineered. Misty Cove was created because Andrew needed some great value quality wines to service his wholesale business in the Netherlands. It was the need to hit a price point and to import exactly what he knew the European market needed. After selling the business in 2008 he came back to New Zealand to concentrate on Misty Cove, which now has up to 400 hectares of vineyards to source fruit, including 70 of their own. This capacity gives us the opportunity to take advantage of this exciting supply chain and offer “great wine at a great price”. Drawing on his vast experiences in Europe, Andrew has created wines that have the nuances of the old world, introducing varietals like Gruner Veltliner into the range with great success and making Sauvignon Blancs that resemble the minerality of their Sancerre counterparts. Not to mention an organic Sauvignon Blanc which everyone needs on a list! Its an exciting addition that we love to take out into the trade. <image:caption>Established in the Rioja Oriental sub-zone of Rioja, deAlto is an unconventional producer of brilliant wines that aim to maximise the fruit potential of this great region. Responding to the need for a more sustainable future that harnesses the best vineyards to produce pure Rioja. And this is why they fit into our portfolio so perfectly. DeAlto wines are crafted by a team, led by Master of Wine Giles Cooke. Having established a reputation for making some of Australia’s finest expressions of Grenache, Giles is now coming full circle to utilise his experience in the region that he first fell in love with. The “tradicional” wines follow the path laid down over centuries, but with the emphasis on balance, fruit and freshness rather than a simple reliance on oak aging. While the foundations of these wines will always be Tempranillo, they benefit from generous use of the beloved Garnacha as well. El Primero is sourced from 3 different parcels of fruit: Old vine low trellised garnacha, old bush vine tempranillo and the final parcel being younger garnacha fruit. An unashamedly contemporary style of rioja that relies not on oak or age but on quality of fruit and a subtle, nuanced approach to winemaking. The fruit is vibrant, lifted and energetic, there are hints of woodspice, wild cherry and thyme. Winemaker: Giles Cooke MW</image:caption>

<image:title>Wineries_Link - Gardet - GARDET Montagne d Reims, FR</image:title>
<image:caption>There is a special stye, fragrance, maturity, and finesse that all of the Gardet Champagnes have. And it’s only after years of patient work and loving care that these wines earn the right to bear the noble name of “Champagne Gardet”. Champagne Gardet is a medium sized and family-owned company that was created in 1895, when Charles Gardet founded his establishment in Epernay. In the 1930s, Georges Gardet, son of the founder, moved to Chigny-les-Rosés, a premier Cru-ranked village in the heart of the “Montagne de Reims”, with a very precise aim: to develop the Champagne Gardet brand, whilst continuing to supply wines of unimpeachable quality. To do so, he based his method on the secular champagne making rules: a high-quality grapes supply and a wine making process fully oriented toward excellence. This purpose and the respect of tradition are still at the heart of the current owners’ preoccupations: the PRIEUX family. Deeply attached to their roots, the Champagne region, the family has been working in the arboricultural and agricultural sectors for years; passing on their love for their land from generation to generation. Champagne Gardet is the 20th House of Champagne (in volume), with an annual production of approx. 1 million bottles. The greatest care is taken to produce high quality products by leaving the champagnes on the lies in the vaulted cellars for the longest possible (way over the legal requirement) and by being one of the few Houses still using oak barrels to age part of the reserve wines. The City of Paris recently announced that it has chosen the Gardet Brut Tradition Champagne as the “Official Champagne of the City of Paris”. It will be served at all official City of Paris functions. This is a remarkable achievement for such a small producer. Winemaker :</image:caption>
